Splatting with Team Land in Splatoon 3’s Splatfest!

Hello, adventurers! It’s been a lot of hurry up and wait in our new city, but my son and I recently inked back into the colorful chaos of Splatoon 3 for the latest Splatfest, and let me tell you, it was an absolute blast! We joined Team Land for the epic Land vs. Sea vs. Air showdown, and it felt so good to sling some ink again. I’ve been battling new allergies and keeping the kids entertained until school starts. This Splatfest was the perfect way to bond and have some fun. Plus, I’ve got a new creative project to share—painting book edges for our local Little Free Libraries! Let’s dive into the inky details.

Splatfest Shenanigans with Team Land

It’s been a while since I’ve played Splatoon 3, but the Summer Nights Splatfest pulled us right back into the Splatlands. The theme—Land vs. Sea vs. Air—was so much fun, and my son and I proudly pledged our allegiance to Team Land. The vibrant festival vibes, with Big Man dressed as a watermelon and Deep Cut performing on stage, made it feel like a summer celebration.

We spent hours inking turf in Splatfest Battles, cackling as we splatted opponents and yelling NOOO when we lost our way through matches. My son and I spotted the Twinklz Duelies together, and we racked up enough EXP to climb the ranks.

The highlight? Reaching the Ruler title! After hitting Land Ruler, we unlocked the awesome new to us, photo feature in Splatoon 3. This lets you snap pictures with your winning team during the Splatfest, and it’s such a cool addition. When my son and I reached Land Ruler pulled off a win in Battle, we raced to the pledge box and took a victory photo together, posing with Shiver. My son was grinning ear to ear, and I’ll treasure that moment forever. It’s now our phone wallpaper, a reminder of our epic Splatfest adventure. I can’t decide if the phone I took or the one he took is my favorite.

A New Creative Quest: Painting Book Edges

Now, for something different! I’ve recently started a new creative project that’s got me buzzing with excitement: painting the edges of books! If you haven’t seen this trend, it’s where you decorate the side edges of a book’s pages with art—think vibrant designs, patterns, or even little scenes. I’ve been experimenting with easy things to start like sakura flowers and hearts. My plan? To leave these painted books in Little Free Libraries around town for others to discover.

I love the idea of adding a bit of magic to someone’s day when they pick up one of my books. I’m still perfecting my technique—getting the paint to stay even is trickier than it looks—but I’ll share some photos and tips in my next post. Stay tuned for updates on my first Little Library drop!
