Crafting Calm at Skye Castle Amid the Heat
Greetings, adventurers, from the halls of Skye Castle! Last week was a quieter chapter in our epic journey. With scorching heat driving us indoors and a touch of cabin fever creeping in, I’ve avoided the mall to save every dollar while navigating the job gap and a tough housing market. Instead, I’ve embraced a thrifty, creative quest—perfect for busy moms and craft lovers alike!
To beat the boredom, I scored clearance books from 2nd & Charles and thrift stores, diving into a new skill: painting book edges. Not new to painting, but this uneven surface threw me curveballs—paint loved sneaking between pages instead of gliding across! I’m learning, and while it’s not perfect, I’m proud of the results. These painted treasures will soon find homes in little libraries around town. I’m also mulling over matching bookmarks—one to tuck inside each book, one to keep as a memento of my art. For now, I’ll stick to clearance finds to hone my skills, but I can’t wait to unleash my airbrush from storage—that’ll level up my game!
This craft doubles as the perfect backdrop for audiobooks, freeing my mind while my hands work. I’ve been grooving to my K-pop demon hunter vibes list from my last post. So far, ASAP by Axie Oh (a modern K-pop idol tale) and Nine Tailed by Jayci Lee (demon hunter magic) have kept me hooked—great picks depending on your mood! I’m getting better at leaving Goodreads reviews—friend me if you’re curious about my thoughts. As a mood reader, my tastes bounce all over, but that’s part of the fun!
